Willie Ruben Prysock, Jr.

July 13, 1947 — November 7, 2019

Willie Ruben Prysock Jr., a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was seventy-two years of age. Bill, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was born on Sunday, July 13, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the only son of Willie “Bill” Ruben Sr. and Harriet F. Anderson Prysock. Bill grew up in the south end of Columbus and was educated in the Columbus Public School System. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church by Dr. M.J. Mitchell. He continued to serve Christ as an adult in several fellowships including The Second Baptist Church and later, The Worship Center of Central Ohio. After graduating from Eastmoor High School in 1965, Bill joined the United States Air Force in February 1966 and served his country faithfully for thirteen years. While deployed, Bill met the love of his life, Miss Gilda Wright. They were united in holy matrimony on October 10, 1969. This union was blessed with three children: Nicole Marie, Christopher Aaron, and Gregory Aaron. Bill returned to Columbus and was employed at Anheuser Busch. He retired with thirty-eight years of service. Bill was considered a true gentleman. He loved to dress to impress, drive nice cars, and enjoyed life with his family. He was a doting grandfather to Whittney Shay, an iconic force to his sisters, and shared a special comradery with all his nieces and nephews. Our beloved Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet F. Prysock and Willie Ruben Prysock, Sr.; sister, Willa Mae Brown; and son, Christopher Aaron Prysock. Precious memories are cherished by his loving wife of fifty years, Gilda Prysock; daughter, Nicole M. Prysock; son, Gregory A. Prysock; granddaughter, Whittney S.
