Wanda Jean Moultry

September 3, 1946 — February 6, 2021

Wanda Jean Moultry was born September 3rd 1946 in Welch West Virginia. She came from very a musically inclined family. Growing up her mother trained she and her siblings to sing in a group at home. Wanda was a power house who’s voice was truly unmatched. As she grew older she became a member of the True Holiness Temple Coral Ensemble and soon after became a member of the group The Musicalettes. With the Musicalettes she traveled far and wide singing and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. In 1975 she relocated to Columbus, Ohio. She worked very hard to provide the best life that she could for her three sons whom she loved dearly along with 5 nonbiological children who she loved as her very own. She worked many years for the Christopher Inn in banquets. She was gifted with her hands and could turn any blank space into a elegant setting in a matter of moments. In the mid 1980s she began a career as private Home Child care provideder. Chances are, if you’re between the ages of 18-45, Wanda (affectionately known as Mamaw) was your sitter. All children were treated as her own. Wanda could stretch a meal to feed a multitude of children. She showered every child  with love, creating signature songs for lots of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She didn’t skimp on the discipline either. She was truly a mother to all. Wanda was extremely talented. She could turn any head of hair into a show piece. Braids were her speciality. Chances are, if you’re reading this, she’s blessed your head with her hands. Wanda was a loyal member of The International Gospel Center Columbus, Ohio founded by her father Pastor Henry L. Pettigrew Senior. She was a proud member of the Voices of Deliverance. After her father’s transition. She served under the leadership of Pastor Sherry Ervin. Wanda was truly a gift to everyone she encountered. She made you feel accepted, she made you feel beautiful, she made you feel special, but most of all she made you feel loved. Wanda Jean Moultry made her transition from this earth Saturday February 6th surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry L. Pettigrew Sr. and Beatrice Pettigrew, and her son Quinton R. Moultry. She is survived by her siblings Brenda Smith, Elizabeth Shuler, Henry L. Pettigrew Jr. (Loretta), Sherry Ervin (Cleo), Eunice Daniels (Earnest), Dona Owens, Camille Farmer, her sons Marcus Moultry (Maria), Gyshelah Moultry Sr. (Tiffany), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
