Virginia Lucille Davis was born April 7, 1937, in Miami, Florida. Having lost her mother in childbirth, Virginia was adopted by Roosevelt and Lucille Wright.
Virginia accepted Christ at age 6 and had a rewarding life serving Christ and anyone who needed her.
Virginia was a diligent worker, a purposeful lady who never gave up. She worked as a nurse’s aide to earn money to attend LPN school, then to finance her education to become a registered nurse.
Virginia felt a sense of pride when she purchased her first home in her twenties, but not as much as when she built her second home from the ground up in her thirties. Virginia married Howard Keyes in 1954 and became the proud mother of Angela and James.
James Keyes, Sr., went to the Lord on December 10, 2006, and was survived by two children, Jazmin and James, Jr. Virginia’s first great-grandchildren were born to Jazmin Keyes: Alexander and Liam. Angela (Keyes) Glover blessed Virginia with two more great-grandchildren, Jerell and Jennifer. Later in life, Virginia met her special love, Deacon Burnett Collins, at Union Grove Baptist Church, where they attended for many years together. Virginia provided comfort and care for Burnett in his final days; he passed away in 2021.
Virginia leaves behind her Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church Family and a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.
