Viola Thomas

August 30, 1935 — June 23, 2019

Viola Thomas was born August 30, 1935 in Auburn, Alabama, the first child  of Carey and Hattie Q. Evans.  She passed away June 23, 2019 in League City, Texas surrounded by her family.

While living in Auburn she met and married Otis Thomas. They moved to Columbus, Ohio to pursue a better life.  To this union were born two children – Carl Lewis  and Barbara Ann.

Viola was an active member of Ebenezer Full Gospel Baptist Church participating as a Deaconess and Usher for many years until her health began to fail her and she had to move to Texas to be cared for by her son and his family.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Thomas, her parents and three brothers.  She is survived by her children – Carl Lewis Thomas (Denise), League City, Tx.  and Barbara Ann Thomas, Columbus, Oh.;  her grandchildren – Latisha Thomas, Patricia Thomas, Patrick S. Covington (Kelly), Steven V. Covington, Justin L. Thomas (Lindsey) and Drew C. Thomas (Evgeniya); 12 great-grandchildren and her brother Roy L. Evans (Barbara), many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
