Thoyia E. Higginbotham (Groves) was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 7, 1959 to the late Clyde S. Groves and Eddie Mae Groves (Bozeman).
She passed away April 5, 2025 at the Ross Heart Hospital, OSU.
Thoyia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church. She graduated from East High School and attended the Ohio State University for two years.
She worked for the State of Ohio for 10 years before her employment at Defense Finance and Accounting Services where she retired after 33 plus years as an Account Lead Technician.
Thoyia loved her family and friends and her cat Mr. Kitty. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends for some laughs and good food. She was a big fan of OSU football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was also known for her honesty and outspokenness.
She loved her spouse Dawn "Red" who she affectionately called Baby for 27 plus years. She also loved her son DJ; daughter, Allyson with all her heart as well as her nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings Clyde Groves, Jr., Charles E. Groves (Myrtle), Greg A. Groves (Shaakir), Rose Alice Groves, Joyce A. Groves and special Aunt Earline Agnew.
The family wishes to thank all for the outpouring of love and support including the Ross Heart Hospital at OSU.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Burial will process to Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
