In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Bridges-Waddell

Shirley A. Bridges-Waddell, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, born January 22,1942 and peacefully passed away on August 30, 2026 due to complications from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Above all, she loved Jesus Christ, giving Him all the praise and credit for every blessing in her life.

A true fashionista at heart, she possessed an eye for style and a passion for making sure everyone around her looked their absolute best. Straightforward and delightfully unfiltered, she never hesitated to let you know if your outfit, hair, or makeup missed the mark. If she had to buy you something proper the first time around, you can bet she stayed on you to maintain it! Beyond clothing, she held high standards for basic self-care, home care, and her beloved cars—keeping everything impeccably updated.

She was a pillar of strength and discipline, not just for her own family, but for the entire neighborhood. While she ran a tight ship and kept all the kids in line, her home was equally defined by boundless generosity. No child in the neighborhood ever went hungry or went without clothes or care; if you lacked something, she made sure you were provided for. She cherished gathering family and friends, filling her home with warmth, laughter, and spirited games of Bid Whist.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents Joe L. Dixon and Princella Dixon; her two beloved brothers, Joe L. Dixon, Jr. (Yon Dixon) and Richard Dixon; her former husbands, Leonard RB Peoples and Clyde "Sonny" Bridges; three of her cherished daughters Shelly Peoples, Truenetta Peoples, Katrina L. Peoples and her dear aunts and uncles.

Shirley leaves behind a rich legacy of love and family. She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Waddell; two loving daughters, Princess M. Price and Terri L. Peoples; and seven wonderful grandchildren: Sheena N. Hairston, her husband Rickey Hairston, Jr., Justin S. Price, Ebony Peoples, Devon Peoples, Brittany Osborne-Johnson, her husband Desmond Johnson, Joshua E. Price, and Brooklynn N. Munsford. She is also blessed with a line of great-grandchildren: Aubre Hairston, Kaleigh Hairston, Madison Hairston, Bryson Hairston, Aden Hairston, Avion Smith, Anija Fields, Alyce Fields, Paris Jamison, Camren Jamison, Devon Peoples, Jr., and A’Morah Peoples, as well as great-great-grandchildren JaKobe, Ava Smith, Avion Smith, Jr., Asaiah Hooks, and Ahv’Aire West Ja’kobe Young. She is also remembered fondly by a host of extended family, including her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Love also extends to 10 wonderful and loving stepchildren.

Her strength, warmth, and memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
