Sandra Denise Wilson-Murphy, age 74, was born on October 14, 1951, in Columbus, OH, to Richard and LaVerne Wilson. She was called home on May 16, 2026. “Saun,” as she was affectionately known by her family and childhood friends, attended Pilgrim Elementary, Champion Jr. High, and Mohawk Jr.-Sr. High School. Saun was employed at various businesses such as The Neil House, Western Electric, Owens-Corning Fiberglass, Amerisource, and most recently Walmart [in
Whitehall] for the last 10 years. Saun was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent cook and made many meals over the years for her family, friends, and co-workers, which brought her so much joy. Saun could have easily opened her own soul food restaurant. Saun was a comedian. She loved telling funny stories and could impersonate just about anyone. Saun was a gift giver. She loved buying for and giving to others, which she did almost every single day. Saun had a pure heart of gold – always using her wisdom to keep us uplifted. Saun’s greatest talent is that she was a Woman of God, whose word she lived by each and every day of her life.
Saun’s most precious and greatest achievement in her life was the birth of her only child, Leandra Renae Wilson who was affectionately known as “Lebo”. Saun loved Lebo more than anything in the world and she was so happy when her daughter blessed her with three beautiful grandchildren – Reggie, Martin, and Stacie, whom she adored. After Lebo’s passing in 2011, Saun stepped in and became “Mom” to her grandchildren. Saun will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, compassion, kindness, humor, and undeniable love. Saun is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Dwight B. “Bernie” Murphy, daughter, Leandra Wilson; parents, Richard Wilson and LaVerne Byrd, stepfather, Richard Byrd, maternal grandmother, Julia Oakfield, sister, Sharon Wilson, and brothers, Rick Wilson and David Byrd.
