Richard L. Chambers Sr. was born on February 7. 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia to Washington Lewis Chambers and Helen Barnes. He was a graduate of Columbus East High School in 1961. He went on to serve in the Army/Vietnam with an Honorable Discharge in 1968. Richard was employed with the Kroger Company from 1961-1982, Call & Post Newspaper from 1975-1982, The United State Postal Service as a mail carrier from 1964-2005 and Peterman Transportation with Groveport School District from 2006-2013. He was a man of integrity and honor who inspired his children, family, and friends to be the best at everything they did. He was an awesome photographer, and mail carrier who loved sports, modelling, singing, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Washington Chambers and Helen Barnes Head, siblings; Ernest Chambers, Robin Knight, Ronald Knight, Kennol Knight, Seona Knight, and Nicole Bradley. He leaves to cherish his memories his immediate family, daughter Charmaine (Kimball) Chambers, grandchildren; Jazmyn Carter, Jahnee Lee-Chambers, Jaylyn Ruffin, Chrystian Taylor, and great-grandson David Woody III; Children and step-children, Pamela Williamson (Denver, CO), Kim Chambers, Christiaan Ogardi, Terry Ingram, Timothy Ingram, Richard L. Chambers Jr., September (Kenny) Ijames, Richard (Stella) Shellow, Lashawnda Watson, and Robert Easley; 20+ grandchildren, 6 great-children, Best Friends Victor Watson Sr., Robert Butts Sr., special friends to the family, Wanda Chambers and Charlotte Goins Carter, and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service
Beginning at 1:00 pm, doors will open for a walk-through viewing with staggered admission of up to 10 people at a time. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Richard's memorial celebration wall to view his video tribute, send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
