The family and community of Sister Rhoda Manning gather in love and gratitude to celebrate the life of a woman whose presence was a blessing to all who knew her. On June 8, 2026, Rhoda peacefully entered eternal rest at the age of 70. With full hearts, we honor her life and legacy, remembering a woman who lived with devotion, generosity, unwavering faith, and deep love for family.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, Rhoda lived most of her life in Urbanacrest and Columbus, Ohio. Rhoda became a cherished pillar in every community she touched. She was a family woman in the truest sense, having an everlasting bond with her siblings, while showering her nieces, nephews, and extended family with joyful devotion.

As a phenomenal mother to her son, Etienne Traore Manning, Rhoda devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising a man of character, compassion, and strength. Through her example, she taught him the enduring values of love, family, kindness, and independence. Those who know Etienne can see her influence reflected in the way he cares for others, honors family, and expresses gratitude. He is her proudest and most cherished accomplishment.

The bond between mother and son was extraordinary. They were not only family but also the closest of friends. Throughout her life, Etienne consistently prioritized his mother’s well-being, serving not only as her caregiver but also as her trusted companion, advocate, and confidant. Together they shared countless conversations, prayers, laughter, and everyday moments that became treasured memories.

Rhoda’s greatest joy was her family. Through her son and grandchildren, Jory Manning, Etienne Manning Jr., and Ezekiel Manning, Rhoda’s legacy is carried forward with the values, faith, and love she worked so diligently to instill.

Rhoda’s heart was expansive. She was a friend who gave without being asked, a neighbor whose kindness became part of the fabric of her community, and a woman who opened her home, her hands, and her heart to others. She delighted in the companionship of her beloved dog, Chester, and her cherished cat, Georgie, whose presence brought her comfort and joy.

A lifelong learner, Rhoda continually sought opportunities to grow, remain productive, and master new skills. She served faithfully as a dedicated employee of Kroger for almost two decades. Following her retirement, she returned to work, a testament to her strong work ethic and love of service. She later continued serving customers through positions with several companies, always bringing humility, kindness, and care to those she encountered.

Above all, Rhoda was a devout servant of the Lord. As a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church, she studied God’s Word with fervor, prayed with conviction, and encouraged others through her steadfast faith. She and her son often recited The Lord’s Prayer together, a cherished tradition that strengthened both their bond and their spiritual walk.

Friends will be received for Visitation at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service at 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205 on Friday, June 26th, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, followed immediately by Funeral Services.
