Monty Ricardo Hendricks, of Columbus, Ohio transitioned peacefully surrounded by friends on December 4, 2025.
Monty was born in Los Angeles, California on October 30, 1960 to the late Pancho Hendricks and Gloria Dean Dowsey.
Moving to Dayton as a child and then to Columbus he resided with his loving grandparents from that point forward.
Monty loved music, he had such a creative soul. When he was 17, he and his brothers and girlfriend formed a band called MC and Company. Later they changed the name of the band to The X Band. Monty was not only the lead vocalist but also guitarist and keyboardist. They toured around Ohio and always loved hosting backyard parties for families and friends.
He graduated from South High School in 1977 and was a member of the Jazz band during his last two years of Highschool. His best friend was Yolanda and they were sweethearts.
As life progressed, he worked for stint at the Hyatt and was afforded the opportunity to meet celebrities from all over the world. His favorite was the famous Whoppie Goldberg. After leaving the Hyatt he began working for Columbus Steel Drum Co. for about 13 year leaving for health reasons. He loved burning the drums and oxidzers. Occasionally he would pick up odd jobs at the Star Carry-Out and Knights Inn but he truly enjoyed his free time playing music when he could at the Canabar.
An Honorary Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service 1370 East Main Street Columbus, Ohio 43205.
