Merdith "Bea" Lee Jones

Meredith Lee Jones lovingly known as "Bea" was born April 17, 2919 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi to the union of Daniel and Jimmie Martin.  She was the first of nine children.  She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Abraham, Bernice, Viola "Vi", Darlene "Doll", Daniel "June" and Jenice "Jenny"; also daughters, Charlene Watson, Darlene Jones and son, Ellington Jones.

Meredith accepted Christ at the age of 6 years and was baptized at St. Peter's Baptist Church in her hometown in the winter of 1933.  She graduated from Hazelhurst High School in 1945.  Upon her graduation she met her loving husband of 62 years, Wellington Jones, Sr.  They were joined in holy matrimony in 1949.  In 1950 Wellington Jones, Sr. relocated her and their first born to Columbus, Ohio.

She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. James Mitchell where she remained until the too ill under the pastorate of Pastor Elgin Orton at the City of Zion (formerly Zion Hill).

Meredith went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2018.  She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Wellington; children Diane Jones, Wellington Jones, Jr, Dorothy (Jessie) Sutton, Carolyn (Roland) Jones all of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Alfred "Alice" Collins and brother, Ernest "Sonny" (Dorothy) Martin; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
