Mary Imani (Pickles) Smith

Mary Imani Smith, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on August 11, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio. Mary Imani Smith (Mary Jo Pickles) was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to George and Mamie Oleon Pickles on July 28, 1942.

Mary Graduated from Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Ohio. She graduated from Nationwide Beauty Academy and received her management’s license in 1986.  She worked as a successful hair stylist for Hair Happenings, Regis, Connie’s, and Knapps for a combination of 40+ years.  She became a life-long member of the United House of Prayer, Columbus Ohio in 1980 and was a devoted member until her death in 2019. She was a member of the choir, various church clubs, and enjoyed working in the kitchen.  She was also a member of the Unifics Social Club for approximately 17 years.

Mary I. Smith is preceded in death by parents Mamie Oleon Pickles and George Pickles; child Kareem Smith; husband Cecil Smith.

Mary I. Smith is survived by children George Anthony Pickles, Melissa Ann Mitchell (Jerome), Octavian Cecil Smith (Kristy), Angela Cecilia Smith, McShan C. Smith (Robin), Ashante Monique Smith, Ebonie Smith, Venus Andriana Marie Smith, and grandchildren Kylayna, Anthony, Shakayne, Gabrielle, Adrian, Jerome, Stefan, Sanaa, Landon, Jerron, Ashante, Mark, Deonte Thomas, Rondae, Marlisa, Quiana, Jazmin, Jaylah, Jeremiah, Tavian, Tysen, Jo’el, Khole, Xavier, McShan Jr., Keenen, Dazmin, Jaylon, Shakira, Imani, Willie, Lawuan, Jodie, Ja’dore, Jo’vuan, 39 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family of Mary I.
