Marcus Lynch Hunt

Marcus L. Hunt, 98, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2015. Born May 21, 1917 in Warrenton, NC, he was the oldest male of 10 siblings. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Marcus attended Shaw University (Raleigh, NC) and retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC). He was also a self-employed barber for 58 years and a faithful member of Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and an usher. Preceded in death by his first wife, Leila Hunt, parents, Prince Albert and Mattie Belle Hunt, 8 siblings, and son-in-law, Lawrence Johnson. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Viola Hunt; daughter, Dorothy M. Johnson; stepchildren, Sophia L. English and Joseph D. (Chyrell) English; brother Willie D. Hunt; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
