Lucille D. Marr was born on May 30, 1932 to Reverend and Mrs. Walter C. Duff in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life in the loving presence of family and friends on May 19, 2018. Lucille attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Central High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Park College, and her Master of Arts from the University of Dayton. Lucille was a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Licensed Social Worker. She was married to John W. Marr, Sr. on June 2, 1951. Lucille and John were blessed with four children: Andrea, John Jr., Steven, and Tina. Lucille was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she was baptized at the age of 12 by Rev. B. L. Brantley. She sang in the Youth Choir, Chancel Choir, and served as a Deaconess and in the Nurses Corps. She also sang with the John Marr Ensemble. In her later years, she was an active member of Fairmoor Presbyterian Church where she led the Prayer Fellowship and served as an ordained Ruling Elder. Lucille was the founder of the Family Life Center and a volunteer with the Rape Crisis Center, Volunteers of America, and Hospice of Central Ohio. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John W. Marr, Sr.; parents, Reverend and Mrs. Walter C. Duff; brothers, Roscoe, Paul, and Edward; and sisters, Jettie, Mamie, Ella, and Tessie. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Andrea L. Adams, John W. Marr, Jr. (Tina), Steven E. (Tiffany) Marr, Tina (Sam) Reeckmann, and Shantina Young; sister Janice Williams; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; special friend Sunny Adams; special niece Ella Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
