Lizzie Monroe

Lizzie Monroe was born on September 13, 1927 in Monticello, Georgia to Aranna and Thomas Monroe. Lizzie moved to Columbus, Ohio with her family in the 50’s and started work as an elevator operator. She later worked as a housekeeper. She was devoted to helping raise her nieces and nephews. Lizzie departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aranna and Thomas Monroe; sisters, Hannah Hayes, Salley Malone, Mattie Williams and Annibelle Monroe; brother, Williams Monroe; nieces, Virginia Lovings, Maxine Lovings and Linda Kay Monroe; and nephew, John Boykins. Lizzie is survived by her brother, Alfred Monroe and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
