Linda Marie “Lula Mae” Gilliam was born on November 9, 1951, and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Linda attended Ephesus 7th Day Adventist Elementary School, Monroe Junior High School, and graduated from Columbus Linden McKinley High School. Early in life, Linda worked at Swan Cleaners and the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation. Linda then started a new career with the State of Ohio Department of Insurance, where she worked as a Contract Analyst and finally retired after 32 years of service. Linda strongly believed in supporting others during times of need and often assisted her family and friends. She was a committed member of her condominium board association, where she resided.
Linda was a devoted mother to two lovely young men whom she shared with Wesley C. Graves. In their sons, they both instilled faith, hard work, and dedication. Teaching them early that success was caring and sharing. Linda was a devoted sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She enjoyed going on shopping trips, cruises and going out to eat with family, friends, and coworkers with whom she retired with.
She is preceded in death by the following relatives: Parents: Ralph and Delphine Gilliam, Brother: Ralph “Brother” Gilliam Jr., Sister, Joyce Ann "Tootie" (Gilliam) Carter, Niece: Tina Long, Great-Niece: Tanisha Long, and Grandparents. Her memory will be cherished by sons, Wesley Gilliam (Nina) and Kevin Gilliam. Brothers: Terrell Gilliam and Wendell Gilliam. Grandchildren: Kareon and Sarah Gilliam, Nieces: Yvonne Long Obey (Chad), and Vanetta Long (Toney Madison), Great-Nephews and Nieces: Perry Long, Dominic Hodge, Marquis Long, Kejuan Long, Marlysa Long, Johnetta Williams, Chavonne Davis, Marshauna (Joyce) Long, Donovan Brown, and Kevonna Burnette. Special Friends: Darla Reed and Pat Henderson. As well as a host of cousins, coworkers, extended family, and friends.
Friends will be received for visitation on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Services, 1370 E. Main Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43205 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at 12:00 pm. Please visit our guest book to leave a message of condolence with the family.
