Lena Ann (Church) Gates

Lena Ann Gates was born on December 25, 1939 to Paul and Mable Church in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life in the afternoon of August 14, 2010 after a long battle of respiratory illness. Sister Gates was converted early in life and joined United Bible Missionary Church where she was a faithful member until the time of her death. She was a former member of Love Thy Neighbor Chapter of the Eastern Star, International Masons. She retired as a Home Day Care provider from the Franklin County Department of Human Services. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Church and Mable (Church) White; brother, Paul Robert Church, Sr.; sister, Ruth Ellen (Church) Wade; daughter, Leigha Michelle Gates and husband, Robert M. Gates. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Lena (Lamonte) Waugh of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Jasmine Nicole Ardister, Brandon Lamonte Caldwell, Brandi Nicole Waugh, Lorenzo Robert Waugh, Alonzo Cortez Waugh and Nia Michelle Waugh; nieces, Paula (Jack) Booker, Rene Broadnax, and Estelle Carter; nephew, Paul Robert (Mona) Church, Jr.; a host of adopted nieces/nephews and other relatives; and her dear friend and sister/friends Walter Bell, Judith Cobb and Janet (Wiley) King all of whom she loved dearly.
