Karen Sue Paschal, age sixty-nine, adoring wife to husband, Lloyd Paschal, and loving mother of three sons, stepdaughter, and stepson, passed away in the late hours of Monday, May 30, 2022, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Ellen Gardner; brother, Randy Gardner; and granddaughter, Crystal Russell. Karen was born Friday, September 19, 1952, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She grew up surrounded by her loving family. She had five siblings and many aunts and uncles. Karen was always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, and was proud of her family. She met her husband, Lloyd, in 1989, while working for the Ohio State Department of Education. They fell in love and were inseparable. After years of dating, Karen and Lloyd knew they were meant to be, because they shared a love of family. In the summer of 1998, they were united in holy matrimony, blending two families into one. As a mother, Karen was generous, loving, supportive, and kind. She would give her children all she could. She was so very proud of them. Her greater joy was becoming a grandmother. Karen always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. Karen retired from the Ohio State Department of Education, with over thirty years of dedicated service. The first thing she did in retirement, was to get her beloved dog, Kenzie. Karen was now free to do all the things she so desired and loved. Lloyd and Karen had a camper and would enjoy their time away at the campsites. She loved cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. In addition, Karen loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, crafting, listening to music, taking care of her family, and sharing a good laugh over coffee with family and friends. Karen willingly sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. Karen had a quiet strength. She will be greatly missed by her family who adored her with all of their hearts. She leaves to cherish her memories with her devoted husband of thirty-four years, Lloyd Paschal; her four sons, Michael (Laura) Russell, Steven Russell, Lloyd ‘Jack’ (Sasha) Paschal, and Kyle (Angie) Russell; daughter, Kimberly (Cameo Bouttry) Harris, all of Ohio; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, other family members, and dear friends. We know that we can’t have you, but we’re happy knowing that you are now OUR ANGEL. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
