Josephine B. Canty

Josephine Canty, age 83, was born September 21, 1936 in Eckman, West Virginia to Willie and Ethel Canty. She attended high school in Moorefield, West Virginia. Josephine was affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal faith where she sang in the church choir. She loved to socialize and was a giver, always helping others. On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, Josephine transitioned to Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie Canty and Ethel Canty, daughter Maxine L. Barnes, sister Margie Tutt, and nephew Fred McDonald, Jr. She is survived by daughters, Linda Anderson and Wanda (Mike) Payne-Dowell; sons, Anthony Canty, Curtis Canty, and Steven (Octavia) Canty; sisters, Brenda Canty, Claudette McDonald, Oglivia Chisolm, and Alma Walker; brothers, Victor (Pam) Canty and Gregory Canty; and 15+ grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
