Johnny Lee Barnes

May 25, 1951 — November 12, 2020

Johnny Lee Barnes graced the world with his presence on Friday, May 25, 1951 in Grenada, Mississippi. He gained his wings on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Columbus, OH. Before taking his final flight, he lived life to its fullest. Johnny was very active and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, cruising around town, and grilling. And let’s not forget he loved to dress from his head to the tip of his gators. Johnny was a caring person and showed that by his career choice of caring for the sick. He dedicated over 30 years of his life in service and employment at The Bryden House (Bryden Place) as a Certified Nurse Assistant until he retired. Evidence shows he was caring for more than the sick, because that is where he met Bonnie, the love of his life, over 20 years ago. And they continued to work there together until she resigned. During his battle with cancer, Bonnie lovingly used her expertise in healthcare to comfort and care for him. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Willie Barnes; brother, Joe Barnes; sister, Katie Mae Barnes-Tate. Leaving to treasure his memory is the love of his life Bonnie; bonus children: Tyra, Tonia, and John; a host of bonus grandchildren; nephews: James and Tevin Barnes; extended family and many friends.
