John Calvin Coleman, 94, of Pickerington, Ohio, made his final transition on April 4, 2026. He was born in Stowe, West Virginia, on August 22, 1931, to the late William and Lealia (Barbour) Coleman.
John was the fourth born of five children. Determined not to work in the coal mines of West Virginia, he graduated from Aracoma High School and then went on to obtain his Associate's Degree at West Virginia State College. He joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country for 4 years. The early years of John’s career were spent working at Mercury Records and Motown Records as Sales and Promotion Manager. He ended his working career with UPS, where he received multiple service awards and recognition for his outstanding leadership as Division Manager throughout his 26 -year tenure.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Diann C. Coleman, his brother William Coleman, his sister Betty Turner, his brother Richard Coleman, and his brother Eddie Coleman. He leaves behind his living legacy: daughter, Angela Coleman, son Nolan (Linda) Coleman, daughter Karen Coleman, daughter La’Tasha (John) Goodwin, son John Corey Coleman, son Michael Coleman, ex-wife/friend Wedell Coleman, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of close family and friends.
John loved playing golf, spades, and bid whist; however, his greatest pastime was spending time with his family. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and always looked forward to watching their football season games with his grandson, Cole.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Wesley Hospice in John’s memory, celebrating the generous spirit he embodied throughout his life.
