James Henry Lawson, age 80, was born April 7, 1942, to the late Pearl and Harold Lawson in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Grant Medical Center. James was a graduate of East High School. He retired from The City of Columbus Sanitation/Refuse Collection Division after 32 years of service. He was a long-time member of The Ocean XI Fishing Club of Columbus, Ohio. James loved The Cleveland Browns, gardening, playing and coaching little league baseball and softball. Most of all, James loved bringing family together hosting cookouts and fish-fries. James was preceded in death by sisters; Dorothy Franklin, Helen McDowell, Mary Ester Morris and Gloria Finch, brothers; Phillip, Delbert, and Paul Lawson. James leaves to mourn his passing, daughters; Darla and Paula Lawson, Marjorie Binion and Melissa Atwood, sons; Phillip (Kaja), and Timmy (Vonn Kann) Lawson, Gregory (Mickie) Binion, 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
