James Bennett

James Bennett, Jr., 81, of Columbus, Ohio; was born on November 21st, 1943 in Sumter, South Carolina to Cora Lee and James Bennett, Sr.

On June 17th, 2025 he peacefully went home to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with illnesses.

James attended Columbus Public Schools, played basketball and graduated from East High School.

He was employed at Battelle until he retired after over 20 years.

James was known to many as Lil Junior or Blue.

He loved sports and loved watching the Ohio State Basketball games.

James loved helping people whenever it was possible.

Preceding him in death are his parents; and grandmother, Janie Albert.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted caregiver, confidant, cousin and friend Dorothy Tanner who lovingly walked though alongside him during his health journey; as well as, a host of other loving cousins; countless friends including: Okera Marshall, Christine, Charles Ewans.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205.
