Etta Marie Fears-Sams, affectionately known as Mema, was born on July 19, 1934 to the late Rudy and Myrtie West in Heflin, Alabama. At an early age, she was baptized at Mt. Grove Baptist Church in Heflin, Alabama. Etta was first married to the late Booker T. Fears and to that union three sons were born. She later united in marriage with the late Chris Sams and to that union two daughters were born. During her younger years, she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she graduated cosmotology school. She later became the successful business owner of a local carry out and well know restaurant named "Mrs. Etta's Barbeque Wings and Thing's". She was also a formal employee of Columbus City Schools and Summit Chase Condominiums. Mrs. Etta had a passion for cooking, spending fun times with her family and friends, social events, seasonal decorating, and dancing. On January 27, 2020, Etta transitioned to Heaven. She is preceded in death by two sons, Booker T. and Arthur Fears, two sisters, Ethel Morris and Virdie Lee Reed, stepmother, Flora West and brother-in-law, Raymond Hayes. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Gregory L. Fears, Sr., Viola G. Fears-Sams, and Valerie G. Fears, two brothers, James (Mary) West and John (Mary) West; sister, Josephine Hayes; four grandchildren, Tasha Rudolph, Gregory Fears, Jr. Rickie C. Cook, and Christaya Fears; five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
