Elissa "Jeannie" Hill-Parks

On January 20, 1948, Elissa Jean "Jeannie" was born in Louisville, KY to John and Anna "Ann" Hill. In her early childhood years, she, her brother, and mother moved to Columbus, OH, where she would spend the rest of her life. After moving to Columbus, she and her family joined the Oakley Full Baptist Church, where she would remain an active member for more than fifty years. Having decided to shorten her driving distance, where she could, Jeannie started attending New Birth Christian Ministries and decided New Birth would be her new church home. She loved attending Sunday service and Bible Study. She would be a member there for only a short time, but she loved and was loved by both church families. Jeannie graduated from West High School in Columbus in 1966. She attended Bleis College where she received her Associate's Degree in Business. Jeannie was employed by Nationwide Insurance and retired with 44 years of service. In May of 2000, Jeanie married her beloved Paul Parks. She became the step-mother of two sons and would have five grandchildren. Jeannie loved children, and she adored her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids. She was known for having regular sleepovers for all of them. Prior to her health slowing her down, she faithfully picked up her granddaughters from school and took them to their piano lessons. She also enjoyed taking them to the movies. On September 23rd, Jeannie peacefully passed at her residence,. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Parks; parents, John and Ann Hill; brother, John "Johnny" Hill; mother-in-law, Jane Phillips, and brother-in-law, Homer Parks. She leaves to cherish her memory, step sons, Paul (Stephanie) and Anthony (Valerie) Parks; sister-in-law, Carolyn HIll; grandchildren, Leah, Rebecca, Jordan, Prestyn, and Cooper Parks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends; and her precious little "four legged baby", Issie.
