Douglas Wayne Howell (Champ) was born June 12, 1952, to Harry and Martha Belle Howell in Columbus, Ohio. He is the secondborn of three children: Harry Michael Howell (brother), In-Cha Kim Howell (sister-in-law), and Saundra Louise Grant (sister); Timothy Grant (brother-in-law). He worked various positions throughout his adulthood (electrician, cook, and logistics).

He enjoyed singing, dancing, swimming, socializing, and loved hearing a good joke. He loved spending time with his long-term companion, Marva, and his big brother, Mike. He just appreciated the simple things in life. Sometimes he would like to savor the moment or be the life of the party.

He is survived by his sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He had some challenges, but he never wavered from his Faith and remained faithful in his love for God. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received for Visitation at Union Grove Baptist Church at 266 N Champion Ave, Columbus, OH 43203 on Thursday, July 2st, 2026, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, followed immediately by Funeral Services.

Burial will process to Eastlawn Cemetery.
