Delores Ann Grant was born on September 26, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio to the union of
Katherine Josephine Alston and Richard Earl Parks. Delores was a graduate of West High School
in 1957 who persistently had a strong desire to learn more about God by regularly volunteering,
leading home-based Bible study courses, and teaching Sunday school classes.
Her background in Christian studies at the Columbus Bible Institute and Moody Bible Institute
led her to opening the Kum Ba Ya Christian Bookstore with her husband, Marshall, after
attending Franklin University. The bookstore was opened to service the African American
community.
Delores deeply enjoyed playing the piano, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, playing
Scrabble and Monopoly with family, completing puzzles, cooking, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Leland Grant Jr.; daughter, Kathy Lynn Grant,
son, Marshall Leland Grant III.
She is survived by daughters, Charissa Ann Grant, and Renita Kay Lee; grandchildren, Derrick
Grant, Kisha Grant, Schena Grant, Lavida Grant, and Kai Lee; sister-in-law, Alice Carol GrantRussel, and her husband, Joe Russel; and extended family.
