**Obituary for Darlene Thomas**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Thomas of Columbus, Ohio, who left this world peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on a warm Sunday, August 13, 1939, Darlene’s life was a testament to the quiet strength and loving spirit for which she will forever be remembered.
Darlene lived a life rooted in love, curiosity, and quiet strength. She believed in lifelong learning and carried a natural interest in the world around her. Whether reading, listening, or engaging in meaningful conversation, she embraced knowledge with enthusiasm.
Her heart was especially tender toward animals. They brought her comfort and joy, and she extended compassion to every creature she encountered.
Above all, Darlene was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Doreen Thomas and Dreama Davis; her son, James Stewart; and lifelong family friend who was like her third son, Eddie, along with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her warmth, wisdom, and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her former husband and dear friend, Fred O. Thomas Jr.; her beloved son, Dwayne Thomas; her sister, Charlotte Dent aka Lottie; her sister, Beverly Stewart-Lee; and brother-in-law, Robert Lee; her brother, Gene Pepper; and her sister, Flora Marie Hayes.
Darlene’s legacy is not measured only in years but in the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Darlene's name to a charity of your choice, in honor of her generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
Though Darlene is no longer with us, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace, eternally remembered and always cherished.
