Cora Lucielle Brown Miller was born on September 27, 1948 in Henderson, Kentucky to Alice (Butler) Brown and Clinton Miller Brown Sr. At the age of 9, the Brown family relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she attended the Columbus Public School District and was a proud graduate of North High School (Go Polar Bears!!). After high school, she attended The Ohio State University, where she not only graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education, she was a charter member of the XI Gamma Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.


While growing up on 11th Avenue, she met and befriended many people in the neighborhood including, as love stories went in the times, her high school sweetheart the love of her life Curtis G Miller - who lived across the street. Cora and Curtis were wed on November 21, 1970. As their friendship, love and partnership grew,they decided to start a family of their own starting with Angela Marie (Barker) Miller followed by Michael Curtis Miller. As parents of 2 active children, they continued to support a multiple of sports and hobbies in which they were very involved in a multitude of activities within the parent associations, outside of just games and matches for dance, gymnastics, baseball, soccer, and football. While navigating family life, she continued to keep her dedication to education as she was an employee of the Columbus Public School system where she not only taught for 34 years until retirement, as a teacher and librarian, she also served as a representative for the teachers union attending meetings, receiving the Outstanding Member award, and conferences for CEA at the national level for the National Education Association (NEA) where she rallied multiple years to continue for support of the educators of America.


During and after retirement she enjoyed traveling stateside , especially with her granddaughters Mionnah and Isabella, most often to Florida but also a multitude of road trip Midwest road trips. Along the way she was always the teacher taking trips to the library or historic sites. Aside from the stateside adventures with “the girls” where they would”do what they want”, she enjoyed many travels abroad to places such as the Caribbean, London, Paris, the Mediterranean Coast, and Dubai.


All of her life, Cora Lucille Brown Miller was a fighter. She fought for her family, she fought for the teachers and educators she dedicated her life to, and she fought cancer…TWICE. Her physical body had gone through enough, but her fight, determination, love and spirit will live on within all of the lives she has touched…forever.


She is survived by her beloved husband Curtis Miller, 2 children Angela Marie Barker and Michael Miller, granddaughters Mionnah Miller and Isabella Barker, sisters Dolores (Bob) Biggers, Saundra Cochran, brother Clinton Brown Jr. as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family. She also leaves very close friends Charlotte Rudd, Michelle Mays and Pam Innis along with a host of other friends and former co-workers.


Friends will be received for Visitation at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service on Friday, July 17th, 2026 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, followed immediately by Funeral Services.

Burial will process to Union Cemetery
