Cecelia Jeanette (Williams) Ankumah-Saikoom

May 17, 1955 — July 30, 2020

Cecelia J. (Williams) Ankumah-Saikoom was born to the late Grover and Mary Ruth Armstrong-Williams on May 19, 1954 in Boonville, NC.  She gained her wings on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Cecilia was a woman of strength and dignity.  She spoke with wisdom and gave faithful instruction.  Cecilia watched over her family and friends alike, always ready to lend a helping hand.  She was a prayer warrior with a gentle spirit.  Cecilia was a woman who feared the Lord and lived a highly-favored life.

She received Christ at an early age and for the past 50 years was an active, dedicated member of Bible Way Church.  She functioned as President of the Women’s Ministry, a Sunday School Teacher, and on the Bible Way 5-Star Committee.  She was a member of the Mass Choir, a Teacher at Bible Way Theological Institute and a member of the Culinary Committee.

Cecilia was graceful, cultured, and educated.  She graduated in 1971 from East High School.  She then received an Associate’s Degree from Columbus Technical Institute, obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Park College and completed her Master’s Degree at Midwest Bible College.

She was a servant leader, serving throughout the community as a Licensed Social Worker, a Child and Family Therapist, a Counselor and Case Manager.  She also served as a Governing Board Member at Ollie Bailey House and The Light Center.  She helped launch and operate a Young Girls Mentoring Program and Just-A-Taste Catering.

Cecilia is preceded in death by grandparents, Graham and Beulah Armstrong; grandparents, Verle and Maggie Williams; parents, Grover and Mary Ruth Armstrong-Williams and nephew, Graham Williams Sr.

Cecilia leaves to cherish her memories brothers, Michael (Laura) Williams of  Kentucky; Garland (Diane) Williams of Columbus, OH; Darnell (Angela) Williams of Walkertown, NC; sister, Monique McCoy of Columbus, OH; special aunt, Sandra Armstrong; special friends, John and Marsha Wade and Joann Arnold; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Special little nuggets include Graham Jr. and Giselle Williams, Durrell Jr. and Darius Williams, and Arye McCoy.
