Carrol Larue (Turner) House was born April 4, 1935 in Amarillo, Texas. She was the fourth of six children born to Allen Dewitt Turner, Sr. and Beulah Lee (Driver) Turner. Carrol was raised in Amarillo, where she attended Carver High School. She played basketball, and as her baby sister Lillie and cousin Friti remember, she was very popular, outgoing and full of fun. After graduating from high school, in 1953, Carrol attended Emporia Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas, and earned a degree in Library Science. On October 26, 1958, Carrol married her dear love, Eddie House. To this union, three daughters were born, Sonya, Darla, and Teresa. Once married, Eddie and Carrol moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked as an educator with the Columbus Public School System. Before retiring early, she worked for many years as the librarian at McGuffey Junior High School. Carrol absolutely loved being a mother and grandmother. She was a familiar face and friend to many who knew her. She always had kind and encouraging words and saw the bright side in everything. She instilled in her children to “treat others as you would want to be treated.” She was loved and adored, but God loved her more. Carrol was called to her heavenly home on January 20, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her husband and parents, Carrol was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Turner. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sonya (Thomas) Burke, Darla House and Teresa (Ronald) Martin, all of Columbus; brothers, Allen “AD” Turner, Jr. of Columbus, James “Totsy” Turner of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Earnest (Willie Mae) Turner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Lillie Mitchell of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Arrika (Michael), Brittnei, C’Nai, Juanita (Kalom), Janae, Ronald “Baby Brother” and Ramir; six great grandchildren, Malachi, Quentin, Kailaya, Kalom “KJ”, Tristen and Milan; loving and special cousin Joan “Friti” Scott of Fairfield, Ohio; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
