Carrie Belle
Finley
Aug 14, 1941 — Oct 2, 2026
Carrie Belle Finley August 14, 1941 – October 2, 2026
Carrie Belle Finley was born on August 14, 1941, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Marie C. Johnson (Brown) and Ray R. Johnson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Johnson, and leaves her sister, Marie A. Beard. Some of Carrie's happiest childhood memories were the summers she spent in Brownstown with her aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Those family gatherings helped shape the love of family that remained an important part of her life.
A devoted Christian, Carrie graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a woman of many talents, enjoying music from an early age and playing both the piano and violin. She later became a licensed cosmetologist and devoted more than 25 years to serving at the V.A. Hospital in the Administration Office. Outside of work, Carrie enjoyed cooking, crafting, watching golf, listening to music, and cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Her greatest joy was her family. Carrie is survived by her daughters, Yvette L. Butcher and Dione M. Nalley (Nicholas Sr.); grandchildren Taylor Butcher, De'Mond Nalley, Nijolia Fultz (Maylon), Asia Nalley, Nia Nalley, and Nicholas “Nico” Nalley II; and great-grandchildren Zion and Aziel. She also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Among the special people in her life were her best friend of more than 60 years, Jackie Wadlington, and her goddaughter, Tonae Bolton.
Carrie will be remembered for her faith, creativity, kindness, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories—from music and family summers to meals prepared with love and countless moments shared with the people closest to her. Her earthly journey is complete, but her faith has carried her home. May she rest peacefully in God's loving arms. Carrie, you will always be loved, remembered, and missed.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”— John 14:2
