Billie Patterson, a.k.a. Ms. Billie, was born on December 27, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life on October 19, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly.
Ms. Billie was a beautiful, intelligent, and unforgettable woman with a personality as big as her heart. She was feisty, outspoken, strong-willed, and unapologetically herself. If you knew Ms. Billie, you knew she didn’t take any mess from anybody! She was a fighter who stood her ground and lived life on her own terms.
Ms. Billie loved music and knew how to have a good time. Whether belting out an Aretha Franklin classic or singing along to Silk, she loved blasting her music and having a good time. She could seemingly answer every question on Jeopardy! And because her birthday fell just two days after Christmas, Ms. Billie made sure you knew that one gift would not do! She expected a Christmas gift AND a birthday gift. If you knew Ms. Billie, you knew better than to combine the two!
Above all, Ms. Billie deeply loved her children. Her love, strength, and the memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.
Ms. Billie was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Morton Johnson; her father, Earl Woods; Albert Hart; her soulmate and the love of her life, Steve Hammonds Jr.; and her nephew, Antoine Patterson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, son Michael Patterson and daughter Sharde Patterson; grandchildren Brezianique Palmer, Michael Patterson Palmer, and Kimora Patterson; four great-grandchildren; her sisters Stephanie (Brent) Bracely, Jackie McKinney, Candy Patterson, Earlene (Gabriel) Lightner, Pausha Johnson, Pia Johnson, and Della (James) Sanders; and her brother, Marvin Patterson. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones, including her homegirl for life, Ella Mason, and special cousins Alex and Richard.
Ms. Billie leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Her music, her feisty ways, and her fierce love for family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
