Barbara Jean Groce

Barbara J. (Carr) Groce exchanged her earthly body for her heavenly one on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Barbara was born to the late Jack and Marnorse Carr on March 31, 1935. She graduated from Columbus East High School. Barbara was a very devoted friend, church member and family member. Barbara retired from the Ohio Dept. of Welfare; she also later retired from Sears. A life-long member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, she was predeceased, by her parents; son, Anthony Carr; husband, Leon Groce; and “special sister” Gloria Jordan. She is survived by sons, Michael (Kaye) Carr, NC, and Charles Carr. Loving granddaughter, Tonjameia Smoot; grandson, Michael “Mikey” Carr; “special brother,” Rev. George W. Jordan; “special sister,” Gail (Charley) Harraway, Fla.; committed cousin, Julia Kay Foster; step daughter, Diane Groce; step-son, Darryl (Diane) Groce. Adored nieces, Kim (Becky) Jordan and Sheryle Lynn (Rev. Adrian) Powell; cherished friends, Barbara Allison, Yvonne Manns and Marsha LaFleur. A host of other friends and family members also survive. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, January 11 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 206 N. Garfield Ave., where family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Rev. George W. Jordan, officiating.
