Audrey Bell Boone was born September 26, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Charles and Lula Lee. She was one of four children. Her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Dismake, Mary Alice Bonds, and one brother, Chalmer Lee. Two nephews, Larry Lee and Ronnie Waugh, one niece, Melva Johnson, two grandsons, Daryl Overton and Derek Boone Jr, one great-grandson, Deron Overton Sr., and most of the love of his life, John Boone (Grandfather), of whom they had forty-three years of marriage, which all preceded her in death.
She was an original member of Gay Street Baptist, Gay Tabernacle, and, now, Tabernacle Baptist Church for 75 years, serving in several ministries. She and John took turns driving the church bus on Sunday to pick up and drop off for church service. She retired from driving Columbus City School Buses. She enjoyed being a foster parent, traveling, and cruising. She and John had a full life with family, friends, grand, great, and great-great grandchildren, and family, and friends.
On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Lord called Audrey into Eternal Rest. She will be missed by so many. Her sons Richard (Sarah) Overton of Worthington, Ohio, and Danny Boone of Orlando, Florida. Grandchildren: Marlin (Jackie) Overton, Richard Overton, Elizabeth Overton-Hartley, Donald (Emily) Overton, Daniel (Britney) Boone, Dereck (Jennifer) Boone of Arizona, Danielle Brown (Jordan Cunningham Sr.), Great, great- great grandchildren. Niece Trina Chapman, special adopted daughter Ann Copas, and special adopted granddaughter Tasha Brown.
"There's an open gate at the end of the road, through which each goes alone. And there, in light we cannot see, our father claims his own. Beyond the gate, our loved one finds happiness and rest, and there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best."
Friends will be received for Visitation at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service at 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205 on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am . Services will be held at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 until 11:00 am followed by interment at Green Lawn Cemetery on a later date.
