Ann Marie Johnson, 56, of Columbus, Ohio transitioned peacefully on May 5th, 2025.
Ann was born on May 20th, 1968, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is the beloved daughter of Constance Mullins
& a cherished sister to Gary (Jeanine) Mullins & Tyrone Mullins, all of Columbus, Ohio.
She had a love for basketball & proudly played for the South High School "Bulldogs" where her team won the 1986 State Championship. After graduating, she continued her passion for the sport by helping her team, "Bob's Beepers," win the Gus Macker Tournament.
She furthered her education at Columbus State Community College & Ohio Dominican University. Ann loved traveling, especially to the Caribbean islands & Ghana. This fueled her joy for cooking, particularly African cuisine, which she prepared with heart & soul. She had an amazing love & taste for music. Ann's kindness & compassion touched everyone she met. Whether through her work as a home health aide, her enduring friendships, or her unwavering love for her family, Ann's giving spirit shone brightly. She found her greatest joy in caring for her children, nieces, nephews & grandchildren.
Ann lost her battle to cancer at 3:45 am, May 5th, 2025 at the OSU James Cancer Hospital/Hopsice in Columbus, Ohio. Her loved ones spent as much time as possible by her side, gave her care, comfort & filled her room with tremendous love. Ann is preceded in death by her grandmother, Vivian Mullins. Her beautiful legacy lives on through her children: Shadia Patterson, Jaleel Johnson & Jeslove Asare; her grandchildren: Kendrick Burton, K'juan Burton, Zaimon Patterson & Dalea Harris. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jepherson Asare, & former husband, William Johnson, her mother, cousins & her life long friends. Ann was a selfless mother, a devoted family member & a radiant soul who found true happiness in making sure her loved ones had everything they needed. Her love will live on in every life she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street Columbus, Ohio 43205. Burial will process to Evergreen Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
