Timothy Bruce Simmons was born in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, August 25, 1953, to the union of Matthew and Marion (Thompson) Simmons. He was the fourth of five sons. Tim, as he was affectionately called, attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from West High School in 1971. After graduation, Tim began his work career as an employee of Battelle Memorial Institute. He later worked as a painter with Columbus City Schools for thirty years, retiring in 2009.
