Margaret “Peggy” (McGee) Shepherd, March 10, 1943 - July 11, 2020. Anyone who knew her would say that Margaret was quick-witted and infectiously creative. Growing up in Columbus, Peggy, as she was known to her friends and family, was loved for her wicked sense of humor and her ability to find the funny side of most situations. Five children brought out her creativity and many times she’d be up to the early hours of the morning helping with elaborate book reports with life-sized props or whipping up some of her decadent chocolate chip cookies for a school bake sale or the neighborhood children. A crafter before it became popular, Peggy would often sew matching dresses for her daughters or a custom-made, Raggedy-Ann doll for a friend. She was also a talented artist able to create realistic portraits. Through the creativity she passed onto her children, she will live on. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack R. and Frankie L. McGee, husband of 33 years and father of her five children, Jerry Shepherd and brother, Gerald McGee. She is survived by her sisters, Marybelle Binford and Marlana (Quinn) Carter, and uncle, Herbert (Zakiyyah) McGee; children, Lisa Shepherd, Leslie Crockett (Michael Sewell), Margaret Shepherd Moore, Jerri Graham and Jack J. Shepherd; grandchildren, Lindsay Michelle Crockett, Anthony Moore, Jacqueline Hancock, Catherine Graham, Najaya Shepherd, Kristin Denney, Tyrell Gilchrist and Tyshon Booker, and three great grandchildren, great friend, Bea Foster, a host of other relatives, and friends. Special thanks to daughter and care taker, Margaret Shepherd Moore, OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital nursing staff, palliative care and hospice, Stephanie Miller R.N., Sony Mallory and Ali Colòn.
