Lois Reid Ware was born May 15, 1929 in Pike County, Georgia, and raised in nearby Griffin, Georgia. She was one of eleven children born to Willie Oscar Reid and Rosa Mae Davis Reid. As an adult, Lois relocated to Columbus, Ohio. She was a longtime, faithful member of The First Church of God and retired from The Ohio State “University Hospital” where she was employed as a Lab Assistant for many years. Lois will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and church members for the various daytrips and interstate bus excursions she organized throughout the years, many of which she co-hosted with her daughter, Mary Ann. Lois’ home was the hub for family gatherings. Before declining health ensued, she often enjoyed preparing home-cooked meals that would draw her relatives and extensive circle of close family friends together for various occasions such as birthdays, holidays, and reunions. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her world. Though, she may have met them with opposition at times, she always made sure their needs (any many of their wants) were fulfilled in one way or another. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, endeared sister, and cherished friend to many who weren't connected by blood yet were blessed to share a special bond with her just the same. On May 14, 2018, just one day shy of her 89th birthday, Mother Ware (or G-Ma as she is affectionately called by the great grands) was called home to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five brothers, five sisters, husband Marvin K. Ware, daughter Mary Ann Reid, son Arthur “Sonny” Reid, and many other relatives of the Davis, Reid, and Ware families. She is survived by her grandson and devoted caregiver, Christopher Corey Reid of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughters, Rina Reid (Tremel) Dunkin of Columbus, and Anitra Reid (Darryl Jr.) Lambert of Cincinnati, Ohio; great grandchildren, Sade Simone Singleton, Darryl Lambert, III, Dasan Lawrence, Leila Suarez Reid, Makaila Lambert, Azana Lawrence, and Kayden Lambert; sister-in-law Hattie Sue Reid; “adopted” grandsons, Sean Lawrence, Mario Marcus, and Chris Scott; close friends, Pearl Bourne and Ferencia Mathis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” family, and many longtime friends.
