Kathleen Goins, age 94, of Columbus, OH went home to be with the Lord May 31, 2022. She was born September 14, 1927 in Carbondale, WV to the late Walter and Morn Hawkins Medley.
She accepted Christ at the age of nine years-old. She served faithfully at the Carbondale Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on the Missionary Board.
She met and married the love of her life, John Rivers Goins Sr. December 15, 1945. Their union was blessed with seven children. In 1962 the family relocated to Columbus, OH. She attended Ohio State School of Cosmetology, where she procured her license as a Managing Cosmetologist. She worked many years at Logan's Beauty Salon and was also self-employed.
She received a special award of recognition published in the Columbus Citizens Journal Newspaper for her dedication to children at Clearbrook Elementary School during her tenure as Classroom Assistant.
In 1989 while employed at St. Raphael's Home, she received an award for "Devoted and Invaluable Services".
She continued her walk of faith for more than 50 years at New Faith Baptist Church, formerly Metropolitan Baptist Church. The Church presented her with an award "In Recognition of Undying Faith in The Lord's Services", May 2015.
Her heart and doors were open to love, to comfort and to help many family members, friends and even strangers. She believed and lived her life according to what Jesus said, "What you have done for the least of Mine, you do also for Me".
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, all 12 of her siblings and a granddaughter. She is survived by her loving children John R. "Sonny" Goins Jr., Harvey T. (Cynthia) Goins, Joyce D. Goins, Anthony "Tony" C. Goins, Katrina C. Goins, Wilbert L. "Chuck" (Betty) Goins, Rita M. (Ralph) Hillman. She also so leaves to cherish her memory FIVE Generations, 100+, grandchildren.
Home Going Celebration 12 PM, Monday, June 6, 2022 at New Faith Baptist Church of Christ, 955 Oak Street, where her family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of service.
