J'Wan Nicole Porter

J'wan Porter was born October 12, 1977, in Dayton, Ohio, and was a resident of Columbus, Ohio for 39 years. At the age of seven, she confessed Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and was baptized at Union Grove Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. J'wan was affectionately known as "TJ" to her friends and loved ones. She received an associate degree in Medical Assisting from Technology Education College. J'wan worked at Westgate Recreation Center and for the City of Columbus for more than a decade and was also employed at Burge Services as a Direct Care Supervisor. She was a devoted mother to her five children and loved by all whose lives she touched. She loved children and young adults and was a mentor to many. She was energetic and loved conversation with people from all walks of life. J'wan would always say, “A family that prays together, stays together.” On October 9, 2018, at the age of 40, J'wan was called home to be with Our Lord. She was preceded in passing by her sister, Tiffany Lynn Porter. Those who remain to cherish memories of J'wan include her children, Tylaesha Durham, Trevon Durham, Kewai Hunter, Mikquail and Mikquan Smith, all of Columbus, Ohio; parents, Gregory and Angela Porter of Gahanna, Ohio; and grandchildren, N’ariyah Durham and Antonio Givens, III, both of Columbus. J'wan will be forever remembered also by her numerous aunts, uncles, extended family, and dear friends.
