Jean Katherine (Rhodes) Lightner

January 28, 1926 — October 14, 2016

Jean Lightner, daughter of the late Richard and Sara Rhodes, was born on January 28, 1926 in Perry County, Columbus, Ohio. There she grew up with three younger brothers: Robert, Richard and Charles Rhodes. Jean attended Ohio State University with a double major in English and Art. Her love and passion for art was expressed in her own personal artwork, such as: charcoal drawings, oil paintings, ceramics, marble sculptures and more. She shared her love for art with her four children and frequently took them to art galleries. Jean was the kind of mother who loved her children dearly in word and in deed. She took time to play with her children, take them on outings to the park, beach, museums, movies, etc. She also took time to share the Old and New Testament Bible stories and history with them. While attending Ohio State University, Jean met and married Glenn Wesley Coleman, Sr. She and her husband moved to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, she attended John Robert Power Modeling School and was able to peruse her passion for modeling and acting; she actively perused a career in high fashion modeling. Many years later, Jean married Harold Lightner of Los Angeles California. Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in Jesus' name according to Acts 2:38, and she received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jean became very active in her church and community; she taught Sunday School and helped out in many other ways. Jean made her transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday, October 14, 2016. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family, friends and children: Cynthia Rhambo (Los Angeles), Linda Lightner (Columbus, Ohio) and Anthony Coleman (Los Angeles). Her son Glenn Coleman (Columbus, Ohio) preceded her in death. Jean also leaves to cherish her memory five granddaughters: Carmella London, Joanna Rhambo, Kisha Coleman, Heather Coleman (Los Angeles) and Brittany Coleman (El Paso, Texas); five grandsons: John London, Terrell Rhambo, Glenn Coleman, III, Timothy Coleman (Los Angeles) and Anthony Coleman, Jr. (Liberty, South Carolina); four great granddaughters: Christian London (San Diego), Naomi London, Mattie London and Jalissa Durham (Los Angeles); eight great grandsons: John London, III, Hamilton London, Milow Le'Blanc, Todd Handford, Alexander Miller, Airon Morgan and Carnellious Coleman (Los Angeles); one great-great grand daughter: Kendal Login (Los Angeles); one great-great grandson: Tayden Login. Jean may gone, but she will never be forgotten. She will live forever in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
