Henrietta B. Russell, age 101, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at McNaughten Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on August 10, 1912, and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, in the Shaw Air Force Base/Shaw Field area. While in Sumter, she was a member of St. Luke A.M.E. Church; however, she last attended Gospel Lighthouse Church of Columbus, Ohio. Henrietta relocated to Columbus, Ohio, in 2005, to be closer to her two grandsons and their families. She leaves to cherish her memory, grandson, Steve Cooper; granddaughter, Tina Cooper (Gary Cooper, deceased), great-grandchildren, Michael Massey, Steve (Michelle) Cooper, Angelo Brown, Dominic (Ashley) Woods, Raymond (Erin) Woods, Kristina (Josh) Cooper, and Felicia Woods; nieces, Martha Jackson of Brooklyn, New York, Isabella Weston, Thelma Evans of Sumter, and Mary Alston of Brooklyn; nephews, Richard Alston of Detroit, Michigan, and Johnny Alston of Sumter; a host of surviving Russell and Howard family members; great-great grandchildren, and many loving and caring friends.
