Ernest Plear, 91, of Columbus passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home. Ernest was born May 20, 1923 in Wayland, Kentucky; his parents were Jessie and Clemmie (Thomas) Plear. After graduating from high school he attended Youngstown State University until he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the cavalry during WWII. After leaving the Army he moved with the family to their farm in Blanchester, Ohio. During this time he met and married Rosie Hudson in 1963. Later, he became employed at Clinton County Air Force Base as a civil servant and moved his family to Wilmington, Ohio where they attended Quinn Chapel AME Church. In 1970 he transferred to then Lockbourne AFB which later became Rickenbacker, he retired with a combined 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his daughter Teresa A. Plear; brothers, Jesse, Dennis, Cleophas, Wilbur, Samuel; sisters, Beatrice, Lessa, Sarah, Odessa and special niece, Patricia Young. Ernest is survived by his spouse, Rosie Plear; children, Phyllis Plear (Sherrard A. Thomas Sr.), Rosetta R. (Steve) Carter, step-daughter LaVerne Hudson; grandson, Brandon L. Plear; great grand children, Robert and Nadia Plear, KeMah’jae Williams, Brydon Fuller; brother, Thomas Plear and sisters-in-law, Irene Plear and Sophie Plear of Cincinnati, in addition to a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Dad was a loving husband and devoted father, a great man has left our midst. He was a faithful servant of God at First AME Zion Church, serving on the steward board, Sons of Varick, and singing with the Templaires.
