David Stanley Barnes was born on February 4, 1947, in Clinton, IL to Hilton and Ceola Strong Barnes. He was the fifth of nine children. David's parents relocated to Warren Hill Community in Smith County, Mississippi where he attended New Prospect School. At an early age he united served as an usher at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS.
David was proceeded in death by his parents Hilton and Ceola Barnes, his paternal grandparents Bill and Emma Shaber Barnes, his maternal grandparents Emmanuel and Alma Debois String and one brother Bobby Barnes. David enjoyed family, fun and fellowship with others. He loved to take his nieces and nephews sightseeing when they would visit him and telling jokes and stories. One of his greatest joys was to bring light to the lives of foster children. He loved his babies and his babies loved him. He fostered over one hundred kids.
On February 8, 2022, David was called home to be with the Lord. As David takes flight to his heavenly home, he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Dr. Lolita Cleveland (Chicago, IL), Stepdaughter; Arnetta Burton, 4 Sisters, Bonnie Page, Anna Burrell, Cora Ellis (Enoch) of Louin, MS and Linda Nicholson (Gautier, MS), 3 brothers Tommy Barnes (Calumet City, IL), Columbus Barnes and James "Mitchell" Barnes. One aunt Mary Lou Clady. A special friend Catherine Ross and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
