Charles Elliott Groves, the son of the late Clyde S. and Eddie Mae (Bozeman) Groves, was born in Elberton, Georgia on May 19, 1940. Charles passed away at home, on the morning of Saturday, January 31, 2015, while surrounded by loved ones. Charles accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, where he was an active member for over 65 years. Charles served as President of the Usher Board, and was also a member of the Male Chorus and Mass Choir. Charles was educated in the Columbus Public School System and graduated from East High School in 1959. In 1962, Charles was united in holy matrimony to Myrtle L. Goode, and from their union bore three daughters: Jhoyia, Katyia, and Rose Angel. Charles retired from AFL-CIO, in 1997, with over 20 years of service. Charles was a kind-hearted man and was loved by all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family and serving the Lord. Charles also loved to travel. He enjoyed boating, bowling, golfing and having a good time with friends. In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased in death by an infant daughter Rose Angel; sisters, Rose Alice Groves, and Joyce Ann Groves; brothers, Gregory Allen Groves Shaakir and Clyde Groves, Jr. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Myrtle (Goode); daughters Jhoyia Lynn (Vernon) Groves-Solomon and Katyia Janelle Kabore; grandchildren, Tanisha McKinney, Kevin McKinney, Nakia Solomon, Brandon Groves-Washington, Jalen Clayton, Kiara Solomon, and Janelle Groves; four great grandchildren; sister, Thoyia E. Groves-Higginbotham (Red); special aunt Earline Agnew; uncle J. Hasker Bozeman of Belton, South Carolina; brother-in-law Frederick E. Goode of Mid-West City Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Rebecca Groves and Donnette Groves; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
