CAROLYN CHILDS was born Wednesday, June 14, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of Lillian Jackson and John Childs. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she grew up in the Franklin Park community. Tina, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her formal education from Columbus City Schools. She was a student at Mohawk Jr. High and a 1967 graduate of East High School. She furthered her education at Columbus Technical Institute (CTI) and graduated as a Dental Laboratory Technician in 1980. Carolyn was a free spirit who traveled around the United States and lived in various places, including California, Cincinnati, and Alaska. She eventually returned to Columbus, Ohio and settled down to raise her children, Rashan and Imberley Burley. She was known for her style. “She Impressed when she dressed,” no matter the occasion. She was a talented hair stylist and expressed this talent at Bridges Hair Salon. Carolyn truly loved to share her talent with others. Carolyn Childs was a 2006 kidney transplant survivor. She could light up a room with her glowing spirit and ability to make friends wherever she went. Her kind, generous nature touched more people than can ever be known. Tina will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and cooking. She will be remembered and cherished forever and ever. We can never forget how happy she was when she spent time with her grandchildren. Carolyn “Tina” Childs entered eternal rest on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was seventy-one years of age. Tina was preceded in the death by her father, John Childs; mother, Lillian Woodward; a mother figure, Dorothy Caldwell Dixon; sister, Charlotte White; bonus sisters, Beulah Snow and Ernestine Alston; grandson, Leondre Rigsbee; sister friend, Willie Mae McCullough aka “Mae Mae;” and special friend, Deedy Starughter. Loving, precious memories are cherished by the father of her children, Ray Burley; son, Rashan Burley and his fiancée, Conswella Alexander; daughter, Imberley Burley and her fiancé, Gerald Robinson; sisters, Christina Johnson, Ceceilia Wilkinson, and Teresa Lynn Woodward; brother, Kim Childs; grandchildren, Doshia Williamson, E’monie Mclntyre, Rashanna Burley, Keylow Jackson, Savion Johnson, Chanceonna Burley, Geleah Robinson, Keyaira Burley, Gerald Robinson, and Gerard Robinson; great grandchildren, Arieonna Burley, Kaliya Murphy, Kh’Amari Bonner, Raylen Burley, Nai’Lani Rudolph, and Saniah Johnson; her four legged companion, Jasper; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, adopted kids, and many friends.
