Bertha Mae Jefferson, 77, born December 30, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away March 1, 2012 at her Columbus, Ohio residence. Bertha graduated from Central High School, where she was a member of the marching band. As a young adult, she attended The Ohio State University and was the ministry leader of Young Adult Usher Board at Good Samaritan Baptist Church. Bertha's career included employment as a Clinical Instructor at the Columbus Developmental Center (CDC), Pharmacy Technician at The Ohio State University Medical Center, and Aphresis Scheduler for the American Red Cross. Additionally, she served in the positions of Chairperson and Secretary for the Near East Area Commission, during which time she was a strong community advocate who organized community health fairs and clean-up campaigns. During her longtime membership with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Bertha was a member of the choir and taught Youth Bible Study classes. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents Ada L. Thompson and Claude Thompson, brother Claude Thompson, Jr., and grandmother Hattie Smith-Harris. Left to cherish memories of Bertha are her children, Thomas Jefferson, Timothy (Darnetta) Jefferson, and Sandra (Bruce) Harris; dear friend and former husband Roy Jefferson; grandchildren, Nicole Harris, Taneka Harris, Julia Harris, Antonio Jefferson, Halle Jefferson, Christopher Smith, and Seneca (Jason) Turner; great grandchildren, Nathan Harris, William Harris-Link, Floyd Davis, III, Makenzi Turner, and Kerrington Turner; and a host of other relatives and friends including Lois Cummings and Lavon Banks. Celebration of Life 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 428 E. Main Street, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Dr. Charles E.
