Alice Poole was born in Paces, Virginia on April 23, 1930. She was the second of 5 children. Alice’s Parents instilled in them a strong belief in God and prayers. Therefore, she professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Arbor Baptist Church. Alice attended New Arbor Elementary School where she as taught by her uncle, Granville Marable. She went on to graduate from Halifax County High School. On September 30, 1961 she married G.L. Poole and to this union a daughter was born Myrna. In 2011 they celebrated 50 years of marriage. In 1963 they relocated to Columbus, Ohio where Trinity Baptist Church became their church home and where Alice and her mother sung with the Harmony Force Choir. Alice’s employment began by doing domestic work. In 1969 she was hired by Western Electric (Lucent Technologies) where she retired from in 1999. Alice was a member of the telephone pioneers. Alice is predeceased by her parents, Beatrice Marable Glass and John Glass; brothers, Frank Glass, Paul Glass and James Glass. She leaves to cherish her memory husband, G.L. Poole; daughter, Myrna Poole; sister, Anna Moon; sisters-in-law, Clara Harper, Esther Hiett and Sherdena Forman; brothers-in-law, Wadell (Eunice) Pool and Bishop St. Peter (Alice) Pool and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
