Why Cremation?

Why Cremation?

Many families today are opting for cremation services when pre-planning their own funeral, or making decisions for the deceased. There are a number of reasons why a growing number of individuals are choosing cremation over a traditional burial service.

At Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, we offer an array of cremation services and prices to honor your loved one. Families are often intrigued by the personalization options following a cremation, making it an appealing choice. Choose from beautiful styles of urns for placing in your home or consider cremation jewelry, allowing you to hold your loved one close. Cremation allows family members to hold the remains in a unique, personalized piece.

Making the decision to have your loved one cremated does not lose the value of honoring them. It is an option to hold them close for years to come.

If your family is considering cremation, we have the answers to your questions.

As with traditional burial, you can expect our highest level of attention to quality and care should you choose cremation. We work with you to answer any questions, ranging from the cremation process to urn selection to the final placement of ashes. Since many families plan to pay tribute and celebrate the life of their loved one, we can assist in choosing an appropriate and meaningful memorial service.

Cremation does not limit your ability to spend time with your loved ones. You may have a visitation, or a full service funeral, prior to the cremation in our chapel, or at your church. Whatever you desire, our staff stands ready to explain in detail the complete range of cremation and memorialization options available to you and your family.

Cremation is More Affordable

Cremation is increasingly selected due to being a more affordable option compared to burial services. Burial services often come with purchasing a casket, grave marker, or miscellaneous other costs. When considering the price difference, it is important to remember that opting for cremation is not a dismissal of a traditional funeral service, as you can still hold a memorial service for friends and family to gather. Families who choose cremation services not only have the opportunity to save money, but are left with a wider range of possibilities following cremation.

Plan a Memorial Service at Your Convenience

One of the benefits of cremation is being able to plan a memorial service at your family’s convenience. Because there is no body present, there is no rush to meet any deadlines. This allows family members to plan a travel schedule to attend the service, making a great option for relatives who are out of town. The memorial service can be 3 days, or 3 weeks after death, depending on your preference.

Traditional Funeral Service Prior to Cremation

Perhaps your loved one has requested a funeral service prior to their cremation, or your family wishes to hold a funeral service before cremation. For families who choose cremation, yet desire a traditional funeral service, the decedent can be embalmed, dressed and placed in a rental casket for a traditional viewing and funeral service, then cremated after the service is complete.

At Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, our staff will work with your preferences to find a cremation plan that fits your wishes. Your family can hold a funeral service prior to cremation or a memorial service after the cremation takes place. We also welcome the idea of hosting a simple ceremony prior to your family scattering the remains.  Whatever your family decides on, a gathering is an important time to say goodbye while comforting each other. Our staff will assist you with creating a meaningful event which reflects and celebrates the life of your loved one.
